What Ascent is

Ascent is ML Mastery, a self-paced curriculum with a progress tracker, a handwriting notes canvas, and a personal links list. This page explains what data the app collects, where it lives, and how you can remove it.

Data collected when you sign in

Signing in uses Google Sign-In via Firebase Authentication. We receive and store:

• Your Google account's name, email address, and profile photo URL (used only to show who's signed in).
• A unique account identifier, used to key your data in the database.

We never see or store your Google password — authentication is handled entirely by Google/Firebase.

Data you create in the app

While using Ascent, the following is saved so your progress follows you across sessions and devices:

• Course progress — which chapters/exercises you've marked as in-progress or done.
• Notes — anything you draw on a chapter's canvas (strokes, shapes, colors, and canvas tab names).
• Links — any personal links you add to a chapter.
• Preferences — theme, text size, and notes/canvas settings (e.g. auto-save, default zoom).

When signed in, this is stored in a Firestore database under your account, scoped so only you can read or write it. If you use the app without signing in (local mode), the same data is kept only in your browser's local storage and never leaves your device.

What we don't do

• No advertising, ad tracking, or ad-tech scripts.
• No analytics or third-party trackers on this site.
• We don't sell, rent, or share your data with third parties.
• We don't read your notes/links content for any purpose other than displaying it back to you.

Cookies & local storage

Ascent doesn't use tracking cookies. It uses your browser's local storage to remember preferences (theme, text size, etc.) and, in local mode, your progress/notes data — all of which stays on your device.

Data retention & deletion

From the app's Settings page you can export your progress as a JSON file, reset your progress, or sign out at any time. To request full deletion of your account and all associated data from our database, contact us using the email below — we'll remove it within 30 days.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the "last updated" date above will change too. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
